The accident took place at roughly 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, on Elsmere Avenue in the vicinity of Fernbank Avenue.

“The investigation has shown that a bicyclist was crossing Elsmere Avenue and was struck by a northbound vehicle that subsequently fled the scene,” according to the statement from police.

The bicyclist has been identified as Nelson Harrington, 80, of Delmar. Harrington was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital by Delmar-Bethlehem EMS and Albany County Paramedics.
