BOYS BASKETBALL: Cats ring up 10th Patroon victory

CATSKILL — Lavon Fernandez and Leviticus Johnson combined for 42 points to spark Catskill to a 70-44 victory over Chatham in Friday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

Fernandez finished with 22 points and Johnson had 20 for the Cats (10-0, 11-1). DeVon Haye chipped in with 13.

Kendrick Clarke topped Chatham with 14 points. Quinten Kastner added 12.

Cat skill led 20-13 at the end of one quarter, then broke the game open with a 20-2 scoring advantage in the second stanza. The Cats led 54-29 through three quarters.

CHATHAM (44): Baccaro 1-0-2, Clarke 7-0-14, Ford 0-3-3, Gregg 2-0-6, Kastner 5-1-12, Talbott 1-0-2, Thorsen 1-0-3, Williams 0-2-2. Totals 17-6-44.

Hudson 74, Cairo-Durham 38

HUDSON — Hudson earned its fourth straight victory on Friday with a 74-38 Patroon Conference boys basketball victory over Cairo-Durham.

Sophomore Isaiah Maines’ 24-point effort topped the Bluehawks (7-2, 8-5), who built quarterly leads of 21-15, 36-26 and 52-26.

Dayquan Griffin had 12 points for Hudson. Vic Gorman added nine and George DeJesus had eight.

Ethan Phillips’ 12 points led Cairo-Durham. Ethan Handel contributed 11.

CAIRO-DURHAM (38): Doble 3-0-7, Handel 5-1-11, Leo 2-0-4, Mintinski 1-0-2, Morgan 0-2-2, Phillips 5-1-12. Totals 16-4-38.

Rensselaer 62, Maple Hill 58

CASTLETON — Ramell Johnson, Samir Lockhart and Patrick Sullivan combined for all but four of Rensselaer’s points as the Rams edged Maple Hill, 62-58, in Friday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

John had 25 points, Lockhart 19 and Sullivan 14 for the Rams.

Rian Jewett’s 29 points led Maple Hill. Ben Marra added 12.

RENSSELAER (62): Baker 1-0-2, Johnson 9-5-25, Lockhart 8-3-19, Nixon 1-0-2, Sullivan 6-0-14. Totals 25-8-62.

Voorheesville 60, Ichabod Crane 47

VALATIE — Zaveon Little dropped 24 points to highlight Voorheesville’s 60-47 Colonial Council boys basketball victory over Ichabod Crane on Friday.

The Blackbirds led 14-12 afte one quarter, 36-25 at halftime and 53-36 through three quarters.

Tanner Tedesco followed Little in scoring for the Blackbirds with 19 points.

Zach Kennedy led Ichabod Crane with 24 points. Brett Richards had 11.

VOORHEESVILLE (60): Barringer 1-0-2, Erickson 1-0-2, Little 9-5-24, Parker 1-0-2, Piccini 2-0-5, Puma 1-0-3, Tedesco 7-2-19, Vink 1-0-3. Totals 24-7-60.
