BOYS BASKETBALL: Cats win again; Panthers fall to Rams
CATSKILL — Lavon Fernandez dropped 24 points to spark unbeaten Catskill to a 97-51 Patroon Conference boys basketball victory over Greenville on Friday.
Catskill (6-0), the No. 10 Class B team in the state, led 25-16 through one quarter of action, then went on a 30-8 run in the second stanza to open up a 55-24 advantage by halftime. The Cats led 75-34 after three quarters.
DeVon Haye followed Fernandez in scoring for the Cats with 22 points. Melik Christian had 11.
Joe Nicosia had 16 for Greenville, which lost for the second straight time after opening 5-0. Ben Lewis chipped in with 11.

CHATHAM — Jayshawn Williams poured in a game-high 27 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Chatham from falling to Rensselaer, 71-65, in Friday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.
Rensselaer trailed 16-14 after one quarter, but seized a 39-32 advantage by halftime. Chatham cut the deficit to 55-51 by the end of the third quarter, but the Rams used a 16-14 scoring edge over the final eight minutes to nail down the victory.
Thomas Van tassel and Zach Gregg each had 10 points for the Panthers.

EAST DURHAM — Killian Schrader’s 19-point performance helped Coxsackie-Athens take down Cairo-Durham, 63-45, in Patroon Conference boys basketball action on Friday.
Aiden Boehm added 15 points to the Indians’ cause. Josh Kiefer added eight.
Ethan Phillips was the Mustangs’ top scorer with 12 points. Dylan Morgan contirbuted 11.
Coxackie-Athens built quarterly leads of 24-11, 36-19 and 50-38.

CASTLETON — Maple Hill bounced back from a loss to Catskill with a 57-26 victory over Taconic Hills in Friday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball action.
The Wildcats led 13-4 after one quarter, 28-13 at halftime and 47-18 at the end of the third quarter.
Rian Jewett led Maple Hill with 19 points. Dominic Hirschoff had 11.
Nole Atwood’s six points topped Taconic Hills.

VALATIE — Ichabod Crane posted its first Colonial Council boys basketball victory of the season on Friday, defeating Cobleskill-Richmondville, 68-42.
Ed Ogden scored 21 points to lead the Riders (1-2, 3-2). Zach Kennedy added 13 and Brett Richards had nine.
Ichabod Crane was up 19-9 after one quarter and extended the gap to 34-20 at halftime and 54-31 through three quarters.
