Eight teams set for Winter Volleyball Tournament
HUDSON — The seventh 2019 Winter Volleyball Holiday Tournament, hosted by the Ichabod Crane Riders, will be held on Saturday at Columbia-Greene Community College.
Tournament participants this year are Ichabod Crane, Germantown, Voorheesville, Coxsackie, Catskill, Taconic Hills, and two teams from Section 3 in Oneida and Canastota.
The tournament begins at 9 a.m. and will be all pool play, with the championship pool beginning at approximately 2:15 p.m.
“There is no admission, but we are asking for a canned good donation to donate to the local food pantry,” Ichabod Crane coach Sean Connors said. “We will have two courts of volleyball constantly going all day and hope people come to check it out.”
Concessions will be available as well as tournament t-shirts. A 50/50 raffle will be held as well.
After the initial pool play, the top four teams will be reseeded into a championship pool. The team with the best record in the championship pool will be the tournament champion.
“We have had a different winner every year of the tournament, last years winner was Canastota,” Connors said. “Many people look forward to this tournament each season. It will be a fun day and we hope to see people come check it out.”
