Jury convicts Hudson man of assault
HUDSON — Julian Omar Smith, 36, of Hudson, was convicted by a jury of third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor, the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
Judge Brian J. Herman presided over the trial.
Hudson Police Department Detective Rodney Waithe arrested Smith on Aug. 27, 2018, and charged him with slashing the victim during an altercation at the Half Moon Bar on Front Street, the district attorney’s office said.
Smith is scheduled to be sentenced March 26, Columbia County District Attorney Paul Czajka said Thursday. Smith faces up to one year incarceration in the Columbia County Jail.
Krista Kline prosecuted the case for the district attorney’s office. Attorney John Leonardson represented Smith during the trial.
