CHATHAM — Cairo-Durham pulled away from a 24-24 halftime tie to defeat Chatham, 68-51, in Monday’s Patroon Conference girls basketball game.

The Panthers led 14-10 after one quarter and were up 24-20 late in the second, but the Mustangs knocked down a pair of buckets in the closing second of the half to pull even at the half.

Cairo-Durham went on to outscore Chatham 24-12 in the third quarter and 20-15 in the fourth to earn the victory.

Arianna Myers led the Mustangs with 24 points. Imani Walcott had 11 and Anna James 10.

Paige Eaton had 21 for Chatham, which was down to just six players by the end of the game because of injuries and illness. Naveah Daigle added 17.

CAIRO-DURHAM (68): Bruck 3-0-6, Colarusso 3-0-6, James 4-2-10, Makely 2-0-4, Mudge 3-0-7, Myers 8-8-24, Walcott 5-1-11. Totals 28-11-68.

PATROON

Maple Hill 63, Chatham 56

CHATHAM — Maple Hill overcame a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Chatham, 63-56, in Monday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

The Wildcats trailed 17-12 after one quarter and 27-21 at the half, before outscoring the Panthers 20-14 in the third quarter and 22-15 in the fourth to pull out the victory.

Rian Jewett led the Wildcats with 20 points. Blake Decker had 18 and Dominic Hirschoff 16.

Jyshawn Williams’ 20-point effort topped Chatham. Zach Gregg chipped in with 12.

MAPLE HILL (63): Decker 6-6-18, Hirschoff 6-2-16, Jewett 7-5-20, Marra 0-3-3, McGarvey 0-2-2, Shaw 1-0-2, Sherwood 0-1-1, Sober 0-1-1. Totals 20-20-63.

VOLLEYBALL

PATROON

Greenville 3, Catskill 1

GREENVILLE — Greenville earned a 3-1 Patroon Conference boys volleyball victory over Catskill recently.

The Spartans (2-3) took game one, 25-18, dropped the second, 26-24, and swept the next two, 25-15 and 25-17, to close out the match.

“It was a close match,” Greenville coach Glenn Evans said. “We covered the court well and our bumps were accurate. Catskill hustled and we look forward to playing them again at the end of the season.”

Walter Sutton had 9 kills, 1 block and 10 digs for the Spartans. Zach Storrs added 8 kills and Ben Reinhard had 6 kills and 9 digs.

Greenville plays at Ichabod Crane on Jan. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
