CHATHAM — Hannah Taylor knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 18 points to lead Chatham to a 59-36 victory over Taconic Hills in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference girls basketball game.

Veah Daigle added 14 points to Chatham’s cause. Paige Eaton chipped in with 12.

The loss overshadowed an outstanding shooting performance by the Titans’ Marleah Perry, who drained eight three-pointers and finished with a game-high 26 points.

Chatham built quarterly leads of 22-6, 41-13 and 50-27.

TACONIC HILLS (36): Sparacino 1-0-2, Shumsky 2-0-4, Perry 9-0-26, Mottoshiski 1-0-2, Beck 1-0-2. Totals 14-0-36.

3-pointers: Perry 8.

CHATHAM (59): H. Taylor 7-0-18, Eaton 5-0-12, Daigle 5-3-14, Cascioli 2-2-7, Kelly 1-0-2, Engel 3-0-6. Totals 23-5-59.

Hudson 74, Rensselaer 37

RENSSELAER — Deja Beauford dropped 22 points to spark Hudson to a 74-37 conquest of Rensselaer in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference girls basketball game.

The Bluehawks were n control from the start, racing out to a 21-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and stretching it to 43-12 at halftime and 63-22 after three quarters.

Shayna Coppersmith and Abby Jepsen each had 12 points for Hudson.

Mechelle Cancer led Rensselaer with 23.

The win sets up a showdown for sole possession of first place in the Patroon with Maple Hill on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Hudson. Both teams are 6-0 in league play.

HUDSON (74): Alert 3-1-9, Beauford 11-0-22, Coppersmith 5-2-12, K. Jepsen 2-1-5, A. Jepsen 4-0-12, Johnson 1-0-2, McDonald 2-1-7, Oliver-Ragland 2-0-5. Totals 30-5-74.

Maple Hill 67, Cairo-Durham 20

CASTLETON — Maple Hill warned up for Friday’s showdown with Hudson by defeating Cairo-Durham, 67-20, in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference girls basketball game.

Tasha Strock led the Wildcats with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Karsyn Berger added nine points and five steals, Paige Bleau and Sophia Chevrier had eight points apiece, Mia Fleck contributed seven and Claudia Eckel had five.

NON-LEAGUE

Columbia 51, Catskill 37

CATSKILL — Janay Brantley recorded a double-double, but Class AA Columbia High was able to post a 51-37 victory over Catskill in Wednesday’s non-league girls basketball game.

Brantley scored 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for the Cats. Aizlyn O’Connell added seven points and 12 rebounds. Kiana Salierno was credited with ‘playing a great all-around game’ by Cats coach Chris Quinn.

Lauren Filien led Columbia with 16 points.

The Blue Devils looked to be en route to an easy win after taking a 19-5 lead through one quarter of play and widening the gap to 33-14 at halftime, but the Cats battled back to within eight by the end of the third quarter. Columbia was able to weather the storm, though, and held on for the victory.

“We played our best game of the year,” Quinn said. “We just battled our butts off against a bigger, more talented team. I’m beyond proud of my girls’ effort.”

COLUMBIA (51): Angelo 2-0-6, Bissailon 1-0-3, Dougherty 1-0-2, Filien 6-1-16, Forte 2-1-5, Kelley 2-0-6, Phillips 2-2-6, Poissant 1-0-3, Scarano 1-2-4. Totals 18-6-51.

VOLLEYBALL

Ichabod Crane 3, Catskill 0

VALATIE — Ichabod Crane posted a 3-0 victory over Catskill in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference boys volleyball action.

The Riders (7-0) took the three games by scores of 25-8, 25-17 and 25-19.

For Ichabod Crane, Harrison Puckett had 8 kills, 9 assists and 1 ace; Trevor Wolfe 7 assists, 1 ace and 1 kill; Dean Warner 5 blocks, 4 kills and 1 ace; Logan Groat 5 kills; Ryan Tricozzi 6 kills; Cam Ames 2 aces and 1 dig; Paul Zietsman 4 assists and 1 ace; Jake Siter 4 aces and 3 kills and Carson Weaver 1 block.

The Riders travel to Cobleskill-Richmondville on Wednesday.
