Jaime Schultz picked up his first big league win over the weekend as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated Minnesota 19-6.

“It feels pretty good,” he told FoxSports after the game. “I didn’t really go in expecting a win any time soon.”

In the win, the Rays tied a franchise record for runs scored.

Schultz came on in the seventh inning with his team trailing the Twins 6-4.

The Maple Hill High School graduate tossed 2 2/3 hitless innings, striking out three and walking three in lowering his rookie season Major League ERA to 4.76.

He was presented with the game ball after the win.

“It will probably go into the case right next to my first pitch, first strikeout and everything in between,” he said.

Schultz has now pitched in four games for the Rays this season, allowing just one hit in 5 2/3 innings with nine Ks.

In the majors, Schultz has thrown a total of 106 pitches with the average speed of his fastball clocking at 95.7 miles per hour.

The Rays have off until Friday when they face Miami at home.
