Tips from public lead to credit card theft arrests

BETHLEHEM — A man and woman were arrested and charged in connection with the theft and unauthorized use of credit cards, according to the Bethlehem Police.

Dana J. Williams, 45, of Troy, and John J. Broderick, 55, of Delmar, were arrested following information from the public, police said. Multiple tips were submitted to both the Bethlehem Police Department and Capital Region Crime Stoppers, according to a statement from Bethlehem Police.

Williams was charged with one felony count of fourth-degree grand larceny and misdemeanor counts of third-degree identity theft and petty larceny. Broderick was charged with third-degree identity theft, a misdemeanor, and petty larceny.

Both were released on appearance tickets. They are expected back in the Town of Bethlehem Court on Jan. 2.

Bethlehem Police thanked members of the public who provided tips that led to the arrests.

“The Bethlehem Police Department would like to thank the community for the tips and information that was provided in regards to this case,” according to the police statement. “This aspect of community policing is the cornerstone to the relationship between a police department and the community, as we work together for the better of our society.”
