PRATTSVILLE — No frost yet, even though the forecast said we were going to have some. Covered up the tender plants but it was unnecessary.

The first frost has hit, followed by almost hot, balmy weather. Rain today, high winds, all the leaves will soon be gone. Let’s hope they hold out until next weekend.

Dear Rusty:

You can’t have it both ways. Either you define the area around you as Dr. Phil’s “a safe place to fall” for your resident canine companions, or you don’t.
