Keyes returning to Chatham, teams up with Sirani
CHATHAM — Chatham High School graduate and current NFL player Josh Keyes is returning to his alma mater this week for a “Train like a Pro” event.
The action kicks off at 8 a.m. on Friday at Chatham High School. There is no charge, though donations to Keyes’ charity, the Keyes Community Project, would be appreciated. All ages, genders and sports are welcome to attend.
The workout is being set up and led by another Chatham High grad, Mike Sirani, who recently opened a new gym, Capital District Sport & Fitness.
Sirani recently held a grand opening that featured another Columbia County product that played in the NFL — Hudson's Rashad Barksdale.
“It feels great to have two of the Capital Region’s best athletes, Josh Keyes and Rashad Barksdale, support our new business,” Sirani said. “When my business partner, Dan Jones, and I were coming up with the concept for Capital District Sport and Fitness, we knew we wanted it to be athletes’ go-to destination for strength and conditioning training in this area. Now that our vision has come to life and we have new athletes from all sports coming into the facility each day, it’s amazing to have professionals like Rashad and Josh acknowledging the work we’re doing and the environment we’re creating.”
Keyes is currently on the Houston Texans’ roster after signing with the team in the offseason.
The 25-year-old has played in 22 regular season NFL games over three seasons with stops in Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Atlanta, Los Angeles (Chargers) and Cleveland.
Keyes still holds a number of records in both football and track and field at Chatham. After graduating, he attended Boston College, graduating in 2015.
