TH 8-10s claim AAA championship

ALBANY -- Tristan Super and Maky Kirby combined to pitch a two-hit shutout as Taconic Hills won the Section 2 South 8-10 year-old AAA Tournament championship with an 8-0 victory over Albany National on Wednesday.

Super started and pitched 4 2/3 innings of one-hit ball before reaching his pitch limit. He struck out 11 and walked only two, before giving way to Kirby who threw the final 1 1/3 innings, striking out one, walking two and allowing one hit.

Kirby gave TH a 1-0 lead in the second inning when he walked, moved up two bases on wild pitches and stole home. The lead grew to 3-0 in the third  as Aidan Buchinsky singled, Jacob Alvarez and Super walked and Hunter Nielsen delivered a two-run single.

TH put the game with five runs in the fourth inning. Kirby had an RBI double in the uprising, Nielsen, Alvarez and Christopher Cashen all had an RBI single and Brayden Jause hit a sacrifice fly.

Nielsen finished with two singles and three RBI to lead Taconic Hills' nine-hit attack. Henry Semp contributed a double and single and Buchinsky had two singles.

Darron Harrell doubled and Jake Najdowski singled for Albany National's only hits.

Harrell and Connor Casalla combined to strike out six and walk six for Albany National.
