The Electric City Bombers 14U travel softball team won the 14U Eastern Nationals Championship July 18-22 in Ocean City, Maryland.

The team went 10-1 in the double elimination tournament, winning its first nine games before losing to the runner-up from Rochester. The team then came back and mercy-ruled that same Rochester team, 15-0, to win the title.

There were 76 teams from 11 states competing in the tournament.

Erin Dougherty (Columbia) won Defensive Player of the Tournament and Laney Altomer (Ichabod Crane) won MVP for the tourney. The team batted .368 overall, scoring 81 runs while giving up 34 — 14 earned.

Riley Callahan (Guilderland) and Lexi Koonz (Colonie) pitched fantastic, giving up just 14 earned runs in the 11 games.
