Drahuhsuk, Christensen, Dwy take home HRCBL hardware
In the inaugural season of the Hudson River Collegiate Baseball League, general manger of the league Ed Dupont honored three players with awards ahead of Saturday’s Championship game between the Knights and Storm.
Hudson native and Columbia-Greene outfielder Tyler Drahushuk took home “The Hitman” Award for top batting average in the league.
Drahushuk, who took a year off from baseball returned to play for the Twins in the spring and hit .234 during the collegiate season, but drastically improved during the summer league, finishing with .378 average. He finsihed with a league-high 31 hits, five doubles, three triples, a home run, and 20 RBI.
The Storm’s ace and University of South Carolina Aiken pitcher Conner Christensen took home “The Ace” award. Christensen finished 4-3 with a 2.15 ERA, 63 strikeouts and one complete game over 46 innings of work.
The last award, “Gold Glove” went to Storm and SUNY Canton catcher Joe Dwy. Dwy was solid for the Storm behind the plate for the entire season, and was equally as impressive at the plate. Dwy finished with a .288 average, a league-leading nine doubles, three triples and 18 RBI.
