You don’t want to miss the Lexington Historical Society’s Annual Archival Day, 1-3:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Historical Building, Church Street, Lexington. This year’s guest speaker will be Uldis Roze, porcupine expert. There will also be an autumn bake sale and annual raffle drawing. Prizes this year are $100 in cash, a Breakfast Basket, Historical Society photo and the 2020 Historical Society calendar.

The 2020 Lexington Historical Society calendars are made of pictures developed from dry glass negatives. Since this type of negative was discontinued around 1920 the pictures are at least 100 years old. The glass plate negatives belonged to Jane Hoffman, former West Kill resident, now living down south. Jane Hoffman came for a visit to West Kill awhile ago and gave the glass negatives to Shirley Van Valkenburgh. Shirley generously donated them to the Lexington Historical Society. Harvey Truesdell asked Chris Protopapas of Lexington to develop the dry glass negatives and the photos were then donated by Harvey to the Historical Society. Due to an increase in printing costs, the 2020 calendars are once again being sold for $15 each or two for $25. By purchasing one of these calendars you not only get to have a fine calendar, but you are helping to support the Historical Society. Calendars may be purchased at the Lexington Municipal Building from the Town Clerk or the Town Historian or by calling Lorraine at 518-989-6646.

The last 2019 Greene County Public Health rabies clinic for Greene County dogs, cats and ferrets will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Hensonville Firehouse, 432 Route 296. Donations are highly encouraged. Please bring record of pet’s previous vaccination to receive a three-year certificate. If no record is shown, pet will be given a one-year vaccination. New Baltimore Animal Hospital provides the veterinary service. Call ahead for ferrets. If you have questions, call 518-719-3600.
