NEW YORK — Taconic Hills junior Clare Howard opened the indoor track and field season with a fifth place finish in the women’s Varsity Pentathlon at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic held at The Armory Track and Field Center in NYC on Saturday.
The field of twelve athletes from across the country competed in five events during the day-long meet, the 55m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800m run.
Howard’s fifth place finish with 2,563 points was highlighted as an Elite Performance meeting the MileSplit US Second Team silver standard, and makes her the current leader in the Pentathlon event for women in NYS.
Besides Howard, Taconic Hills varsity track and field’s Amelia Canetto, Lily Russo, Dylan Foutch, Neil Howard III, and Eli Russo are using the indoor meet schedule to prepare for the spring season.
