CATSKILL — Lavon Fernandez scored his 1,000th career point to highlight Catskill’s 80-48 Patroon Conference boys basketball victory over Coxsackie-Athens on Tuesday.

Fernandez, who began his high school career in Hudson before transferring to Catskill, finished with 20 points as the Cats improved to 8-0 in the Patroon and 9-1 overall.

“I can not say enough about this young man,” Catskill coach Doug Lampman said. “To come into a new environment at his point in his career and do what he does is remarkable. Every day he strives to be the best player, and more importantly, the best student.

“His game has grown every day. We are so proud to be a part of his senior year. If you have ever spent time on the court with Lavon Fernandez, you should be proud of his achievement — that goes for whether you wear blue and gold or blue and orange.”

The Cats built quarterly leads of 25-6, 42-21 and 65-31.

DeVon Haye followed Fernandez in scoring for the Cats with 18 points. Leviticus Johnson added 16.

Killian Schrader and Josh Kiefer each had 11 points for Coxsackie-Athens.

Rensselaer 71, Hudson 67

HUDSON — Ramell Johnson dropped 24 points as Rensselaer defeated Hudson, 71-67, in Tuesday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

The Rams jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the opening stanza and were up 35-26 at halftime and 50-41 after three quarters.

Samir Lockhart added 18 points to the Rams’ cause. Amani Nixon had 15.

Isaiah Maines led Hudson (4-2, 4-5) with 22 points. Dayquan Griffin had 21.

RENSSELAER (71): Johnson 8-6-24, Lockhart 6-5-18, Matthews 1-0-2, Nixon 7-0-15, Sullivan 4-0-9, Wright 1-1-3. Totals 27-12-71.

Chatham 67, Taconic Hills 29

CRARYVILLE — Chatham raced out to a double-digit lead by the end of the first quarter and went on to hand Taconic Hills a 67-29 defeat in Tuesday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

The Panthers led 35-13 at halftime and 53-18 through three quarters.

Jayshawn Williams led the way for Chatham with 22 points. Mateo Talbott had 10 and Zach Gregg nine.

Kyle Delamater’s nine points topped Taconic Hills.

EAST DURHAM — Maple Hill limited Cairo-Durham to just two first-half points en route to a 52-12 victory in Tuesday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

The Wildcats led 17-2 after one quarter of play and widened the gap to 24-2 at halftime and 44-4 through three quarters.

Ben Marra’s 14 points paced Maple Hill. Rian Jewett contributed 11.

TROY — Jackson Brown drained seven three-pointers in Catholic Central’s 58-50 Colonial Council boys basketball victory over Ichabod Crane on Tuesday.

Brown finished with 23 points for the Crusaders, who built quarterly leads 18-9, 36-25 and 52-39.

Zach Kennedy led Ichabod Crane with 15 points. Brett Richards chipped in with 14.
