LOCAL ROUNDUP: Catskill remains unbeaten in Patroon

EAST DURHAM — Lavon Fernandez scored 30 points as Catskill defeated a short Cairo-Durham squad, 80-28, in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

The Cats (9-0, 10-1) took a 24-5 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 37-8 at halftime and 61-21 after three quarters.

DeVon Haye followed Fernandez in scoring for the Cats, finishing with 22 points. Leviticus Johnson had 12.

Jonathan Doble had nine points and Ethan Phillips eight for Cairo-Durham, which played with just six players because of injuries.

CATSKILL (80): Johnson 3-5-12, Clyles 1-1-3, Gibbs 1-0-2, McEachern 1-0-3, Fernandez 13-1-30, Scott 4-0-8, Haye 10-2-22. Totals 33-9-80.

Maple Hill 62, Chatham 54

CASTLETON — Maple Hill built a 27-point halftime lead, then held off a furious second-half rally by Chatham to post a 62-54 victory in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

The Wildcats were up 17-6 after one quarter and 39-12 at halftime, but were outscored 42-23 in the second half.

Rian Jewett had 27 points for Maple Hill. Blake Decker chipped in with 12 points.

Jayshawn Williams and Zach Gregg each had 10 points for Chatham. Quinten Kastner and Thomas Van Tassel contributed seven apiece.

COXSACKIE — KAne Schrader scored 21 points to highlight Coxsackie-Athens’ 71-50 non-league boys basketball win over Germantown on Wednesday.

KAne Schrader had 14 points for the Indians. Josh Kiefer added nine.

Robbie eaton was Germantown’s top scorer with 16 points. Jace Anderson contributed 14.

C-A bult quarterly leads of 17-14, 36-31 and 54-41.

CATSKILL — Arianna Myers’ 19 points helped Cairo-Durham defeat Catskill, 38-29, in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference girls basketball action.

The Mustangs led 10-9 after one quarter, 17-14 at halftime and 29-19 after three quarters.

Hannah Konsul and Aizlyn O’Connell each had eight points for the Cats.

TROY — Emma Shields poured in 33 points to spark Emma Willard to a 58-33 non-league girls basketball victory ovr Taconic Hills on Wednesday.

Molly Zahnleuter added 15 points for the Jesters, who held quarterly leads of 24-3, 36-14 and 49-25.

Marleah Perry hit four three-pointers and finished with 12 points for Taconic Hills.

COBLESKILL — Unbeaten Ichabod Crane handed Cobleskill-Richmondville a 3-1 setback in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference volleyball match.

The Riders dropped the first game, 26-24, but came back to sweep the next three, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-11.
