LOCAL ROUNDUP: Graham scores 41 on Senior Night as Riders roll

VALATIE — On Senior Night, Ichabod Crane posted a 73-24 non-league girls basketball victory over Bishop Maginn.

The Riders were led by their lone Senior and Captain Madison Graham. She opened up the scoring with 17 points in the first quarter, which included three 3-pointers. Graham would continue her hot shooting by scoring career highs in points (41) and 3-pointers (9).

“Madie has done such an amazing job this year leading a young group into action,” Riders’ coach Adam Vooris said of the star guard. “We got off to a rough start and Madie trusted the process and just kept leading and showing up to work hard everyday.

“She comes to the gym everyday ready to share her knowledge and help every single player improve. I don’t think there is a player on the court that she hasn’t impacted in some way.”

Clare Knapp contributed 10 points as the Riders coasted to victory. Knapp made five out of her six attempted shots and as a team, the Riders shot 54%.

Abby Dolge contributed seven points and 11 assists, eight of which came in the first quarter.

Ravena 64, Coxsackie-Athens 50

COXSACKIE — Ravena overcame a one-point deficit with a 21-6 scoring run in the fourth quarter to defeat Coxsackie-Athens, 64-50, in Monday’s non-league boys basketball game.

Ravena led 15-13 after one quarter, but fell behind, 30-28 at halftime and 44-43 through three quarters, before rallying to take the lead for good in the final stanza.

C.J. Bianchino dropped 30 points for Ravena. Jason Reif had 13 and Matt Waddingham 10.

Josh Kiefer’s 15 points topped C-A. Aiden Boehm and Kane Schrader both had nine.

Pine Plain 59, Germantown 46

PINE PLAINS — Pine Plains broke open a tight game in the final quarter and went on defeat Germantown, 59-46, in Monday’s non-league boys basketball game.

Germantown led 13-11 after one quarter, but trailed 24-22 at halftime and 37-34 after three quarters.

Tyler Funk knocked down five three-pointrs en route to a 17-point performance for Pine Plains. Adam Funk added 15 and Caleb McCaul had 11.

Bryan Bathrick led Germantown with 16 points. Robbie Eaton and Jace Anderson each had 12.

GERMANTOWN (46): Eaton 5-0-12, Bathrick 5-4-16, Anderson 4-4-12, Rifenburgh 1-0-2, McKinney 2-0-4. Totals 17-8-46.

VALATIE — Ichabod Crane kept its perfect Patroon Conference record intact on Monday with a 3-0 Patroon Conference boys volleyball victory over Taconic Hills.

The Riders (12-0) won by scores of 25-9, 25-4 and 25-14.

For ICC, Harrison Puckett had 10 assists, 6 kills, 2 digs and 1 ace; Dean Warner 6 kills, 3 blocks, 8 aces and 4 digs; Trevor Wolfe 11 assists, 8 aces and 5 kills; Jake Siter 2 kills and 4 aces; Cam Ames 2 aces and 2 kills; Logan Groat 3 kills; Carson Weaver 1 kill; Paul Zietsman 1 assist.

Ichabod Crane hosts Voorheesville on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Greenville 3, Voorheesville 2

GREENVILLE — Greenville earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Voorheesville in Monday’s Patroon Conference boys volleyball match.

The Spartans took the first two sets, 25-11 and 25-22, dropped the next two, 25-23 and 25-21, then won the match with a 15-8 victory in the fifth.

“It was a very even match,” Greenville coach Glenn Evans said. Voorheesville covered the court and made outstanding saves on third hits. I’m proud of my team for staying upbeat even after they gave a 2-set lead.”

Zach Storrs had 19 kills and 3 blocks for Greenville. Walter Sutton added 12 kills and 8 digs, Brian Blair 21 assists and 4 kills and Ben Gorneau 17 assists and 7 digs.
