LOCAL ROUNDUP: ICC’s Graham latest member of 1,000-point club

TROY — Ichabod Crane’s Madie Graham needed seven points to hit 1,000 for her career going into Thursday’s Colonial Council game against Catholic Central. It only took her three shots to reach it, all of them three-pointers. She finished with 32 and the Riders defeated the Crusaders, 60-51.
Madie becomes the second player in program history to reach the feat, joining Tahnee Heins-Bickerton as the only two to do it. Heins, who after high school, went on to star at Division I Seton Hall, is currently the modified coach at ICC. Madie played for her for 2 years in seventh and eighth grade.
“It’s pretty cool to have Tahnee still in the program,” Riders coach Adam Vooris said. “To have both of the top scorers in the program at the same time brings a lot of pride to all of us, especially since there is a 25-year gap between them.”
After hitting the shotthere was a brief celebration. Catholic Central presented Madie with the game ball and she hugged her teammates, coaches and family. After that it was back to business for Graham. She continued her hot hand, scoring 23 more points in leading the Riders to victory.
“She was unbelievable tonight,” Vooris said. “CCHS played her close all night. She did not get many open looks and made a lot of contested shots.”
The Riders were 20 for 25 from the free throw line, which was the difference in the game.
Graham also had 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals for the Riders. She scored a total of 104 points this week in 3 games. Delaney More contributed nine points and 10 rebounds.
Sarah Mattfeld led CCHS with 16 points. Angelena Giuliano chipped in with 14 and Brenna Graber had 13.

VALATIE — Unbeaten Ichabod Crane rolled to a 3-0 victory over Hudson in Thursday’s Patroon Conference boys volleyball match.
The Riders (14-0) won by scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-16.
For Ichabod Crane, Harrison Puckett had 9 assist, 5 kills and 5 aces; Dean Warner 5 aces, 7 kills and 3 blocks; Trevor Wolfe 10 assists, 1 dig and 1 kill; Jake Siter 4 kills and 1 dig; Logan Groat 1 kill and 1 dig; Ryan Tricozzi 1 kill; Jim Konderwich 4 kills and 1 block; Jared Cook 3 aces and 2 digs.
Germantown 3, Taconic Hills 2
GERMANTOWN — Germantown earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Taconic Hills in Thursday’s Patroon Conference boys volleyball match.
Germantown took the first set, 25-12, then lost the next two, 25-22 and 25-3. The Clippers came back to win the next two, 25-15 and 15-11 to close out the match.
For Taconic Hills, Chris Cortwright had 12 digs, 7 kills and 4 blocks. Adonias Mercado added 22 digs, 4 aces and 2 kills.
WRESTLING
TROY — Seedings have been announced for today’s Section II Class C wrestling championships at Tamarac High School.
Action gets underway at 9:30 a.m.
Six local wrestlers are seeded No. 1 in their respective weight classes: Jair Gomez of Ichabod Crane (99), Kieran Cullen of Greenville (106), Logan Campbell of Coxsackie-Athens (113), Aiden Cullen of Greenville (132), Jerald Rhoades of Ichabod Crane (138) and Colby Lord of Coxsackie-Athens (182).
Earning second seeds were Omar Martinez of Ichabod Crane (106), Bernard Davis of Greenville (126), Jesse Davies of Catskill (152) and Seth Dillworth of Coxsackie-Athens (220).
The Section II Class D championships will be held today at Warrensburg High School and Maple Hill’s unbeaten Caleb Svingala is the No. 1 seed in the 126-pound weight class.
The top four finishers in Classes CC, C and D advance to the Division II state qualifier. The Section II state qualifier meet is slated for Feb. 15 at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls.
