Two drivers injured in Valatie accident
VALATIE — Two men were injured Tuesday afternoon after a car and a van collided in Valatie, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.
Columbia County 911 dispatched Valatie Fire and Rescue to Route 203 in the area of Rod and Gun Club Road around 3:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.
A car collided with a commercial van from New Jersey, the sheriff’s office said. One of the vehicles also struck a utility pole.
The male driver of the van was taken to Albany Medical Center by Valatie Rescue with neck injuries, the sheriff’s office said. The male driver of the car was checked out at the scene for a hand injury.
The drivers’ names were not released by the sheriff’s office Tuesday.
Route 203 was closed between Rod and Gun Club Road and Bonnie Lane for an hour and 15 minutes, the sheriff’s office said.
The road was reopened to traffic at 5 p.m., the sheriff’s office said. National Grid was requested to the scene to inspect the utility pole for possible damage.
Power was knocked out in a small area, according to National Grid. The Columbia County Sheriff’s office investigated the accident.
