As two of our leading national lawmakers so accurately pointed out Monday, not all regions in New York state are created equal, at least in the eyes of the nation’s capital.

For the foreseeable future, school enrollment, jobs, income and the general population will spiral downward. That’s a scary prediction for Columbia and Greene counties.

There’s some reassurance in knowing that a person suspected in a deadly shooting more than two years ago has been arrested and charged.
