Experience the Magic of the Holidays at Hawthorne Valley School’s Annual Yuletide Fair
GHENT — The Parent Teacher Association of Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School (HVS) and the HVS community are hard at work preparing for the ANNUAL YULETIDE FAIR AND GINGERBREAD HOUSE AUCTION to be held on Saturday, December 7th, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (330 County Route 21C, Ghent, NY 12075) The school assembly hall will be transformed into a winter wonderland with dozens of original gingerbread creations on display. Dozens of artisan vendors will fill the school’s classrooms with beautiful handcrafted items ~ you’re sure to find the perfect gifts for everyone on your holiday shopping list!
Enjoy activities for children like candle dipping and stained glass making, visit the Community Craft Room for handcrafted items and the Hand-to-Hand Room for gently worn wool clothing and wooden toys, and stop for a tasty treat in the Cozy Café or food tent.
The Magical Puppet Tree will perform the classic “Pooh Goes Visiting and Gets Into a Tight Place” presented in silk marionette theater with music by HVS Grade Three class teacher Scott Esty, and storytelling by Grade One class teacher Rachel Loshak. Performances will take place at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. in the Morningstar Kindergarten Theater. Admission is $4. Advance ticket sales will be available the week before the fair at the Turose school store, located on the HVS campus.
Children and adults are invited to enter this year’s Gingerbread Contest, a perennial favorite of the fair. Friends, families, and neighbors will have an opportunity to bid on their favorite entries at the Gingerbread Auction – take home an original work of gingerbread art and support Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School! Farm-to-Fair Food
Farm-to-School Chef Nicole Lobue combines her talents as chef, herbalist, and educator to provide nutrient dense, sustaining whole food meals to the students of Hawthorne Valley School each week. At this year’s Yuletide Fair she will connect the community to the bountiful gifts of the region by preparing delectable food that nourishes bodies and pleases the senses. Join us in the Main Food!
Silent Auction Items of Note
The Yuletide Fair’s Silent Auction gets more enticing every year! This year, bid on Supernatural Coffee, hotel stays at Rivertown Lodge in Hudson, a dining certificate at the Bartlett House, accessories by Bisjoux Jewelry, a custom designed cake by a professional pastry chef, a photo shoot for up to 6 people with Keetch Photography and more!
