HUDSON — Hudson wrapped up its regular season schedule with a 67-60 Patroon Conference boys basketball victory over Greenville on Monday.

Hudson (13-3, 13-6) led 21-10 at the end of the first quarter, 30-27 at halftime and 43-40 through three quarters.

Dayquan Griffin was Hudson’s top scorer with 25 points. Isaiah Maines added 12 and Noah Hedgepeth and Caleb Romano nine apiece.

“It wasn’t our best offensive output,” Hudson coach Shawn Briscoe said. “We’ve been telling the guys all year long that at some point we’re going to need to play good enough defense for the defense to win us a game and that’s what we did today. We were able to get enough stops down the stretch that gave us that little separation t get up by 10 and eventually win by seven.

“Hopefully this will be something that kind of kickstarts us moving forward because now they understand that every night we’re not going to score well and we might need ur deefense to win us a game and that’s what happened today.”

JJ O’Connor led Greenville with 22 points. Damien Fiducia added 18 and is now just 16 points away from reaching the 1,000-point milestone for his career.

Both teams now await the Section II seeding meeting to see who and where they play next.

“It’s nice to end the (regular) season with a win,” Briscoe said. “We’ve been playing well the last few games so, hopefully, that will help carry us into next week. We’ll see where we get seeded. You have to beat everybody to win s regardless of where you’re seeded you have to beat everybody in front of you to be the last team standing.

Briscoe wasn’t what to expect in terms of seeding position, but expects a tought battle no matter who they have to play.

“It’s loaded at the top so I’m not really sure how the seeds are ging to go,” Briscoe said. “You have basically eight teams that have five losses or less from the various different leagues, so seeding is going to be tough, trying to figure out where everyone is supposed to be.

“I think the top eight are going to be tough to figure out and then everyone else will kind of fall into place. We have a week to prepare, and hopefully we’ll be ready.”
