LOCAL ROUNDUP: Wildcats edge Indians

CASTLETON — Maple Hill held off a late rally by Coxsackie-athens to post a 61-59 victory in Tuesday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

C-A led 21-13 aftrer one quarter of play, but Maple Hill went on a 26-15 run in the second stanza to go up 39-36 at halftime and widened the gap to 52-45 after three quarters. The Indians had a 14-9 scoring advantage in the final period, but it was too little, too late.

Ben Marra led Maple Hill with 19 points. Rian Jewett contributed 18 and Dominic Hirschoff 13.

C-A, which hit 10 three-pointers, was led by Killian Schrader’s 20 points. Josh Kiefer chipped in with 12.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lansingburgh 45, Ichabod Crane 39

VALATIE — Lansingburgh trailed at the end of the first three quarters of Tuesday’s Colonial Council girls basketball game against Ichabod Crane, but went on an 18-9 run in the final stanza to pull out a 45-39 victory.

The Riders led 11-8 after one quarter, 18-17 at halftime and 30-27 after three, before the Knights rallied.

Jada Rondon led LAnsingburgh with 16 points. Paulia Sitori had nine.

Madie Graham was Ichabod Crane’s top scorer with 12 points. Abby Dolge contributed 10.

LANSINGBURGH (45): Thomas 3-0-6, Losee 2-3-9, Anderson 2-0-5, Rondon 6-3-16, Sitori 4-1-9. Totals 17-7-45.

CHATHAM — Hudson recorded a 3-0 victory over Chatham on Tuesday in Patroon Conference volleyball action.

The Bluehawks won by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-23.

“Chatham had the lead a few times but, once again, a group of young players still figuring out how to finish,” Chatham coach Marty Torrey said.
