Marjorie Mabel (Bondarchuk) DAVIS March 26, 1935 – February 11, 2020 Surrounded by her loving family at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany, NY, Marjorie Mabel (Bondarchuk) Davis 84, of Columbiaville passed away peacefully into enteral rest on February 11, 2020 after a long battle with dementia.

Marjorie was born on March 26, 1935 in Copake, NY. She was the daughter of Anastasia (Olski) Bondarchuk and Daniel Bondarchuk. She grew up on the family ‘farm’ in the Hillsdale area and attended the local public schools. Around 1950 her father Daniel sold the farm and bought the iconic bar/restaurant/hotel in Stottville known as the Highway Inn. There she met the good-looking Army officer Larry Davis and it was ‘love at first sight’. On February 14, 1953 she married Lawrence Frances Davis of Columbiaville, NY where they lived for many years before moving to Rossman NY. Marjorie worked all of her adult life assisting to provide for her family. She was proud to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked full-time at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont, NY until retirement in 1999. After retirement she enjoyed visiting friends, attending senior center events and playing the scratch-offs. She was a well-known figure at the Columbiaville Post Office and Cumberland Farms store. She would chat it up with all who entered.

She is survived by daughters Marjorie Anne (Davis) GARY Horner of Rossman NY and Robin Kathleen (Davis) MARK Ham of Myrtle Beach, SC. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren; Gary R Horner Jr (TERRI), King William, VA., Stacey M. Meissner (FRANK) of East Nassau, NY, Nicole L. Landry (JOSEPH) of Stockport, NY, Kristin M. HornerStickles (ERIN Daley) of Stuyvesant, NY, Janis M. Lambrose (STEVE) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Michael Ham of Chatham, NY. Great grandchildren; Anya Horner, Lila Meissner, Abigail Meissner, Henry Meissner, Madison Landry, Corey Landry, Zachary Landry, Arianna Lambrose, Andrea Lambrose and Emily Ham. Sisters Betty Stringer of Valatie NY and Helen Jennings of Philmont, NY and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and sisters; Anastasia Bondarchuk (Gustave) Lauster, Jenny Bondarchuk (Edward) Block and great-grandson Alexander Lambrose.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marjorie’s memory can be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of NY. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
