Missing Coxsackie man found dead

COXSACKIE — A Greene County man who was reported missing around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday has been found dead.

The body of David Lee, 51, of Coxsackie, was found Saturday afternoon at around 3 p.m. by search and rescue teams, according to Lt. David Pachan, a supervising forest ranger with the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation.

The discovery came after an extensive search that included the wooded and swampy areas of Four Mile Point Road off State Route 385 in the town of Coxsackie.

Lee's body was found in the search area.

The cause of death is not yet known.

During the search a state police helicopter flew over the Vosburgh Swamp Wildlife Management Area, and search teams and K-9 units combed the woods and swamps. Roughly 60 people searched the area Friday.

The search continued Saturday, when the number of people searching for Lee grew.

"There are 110 people in the woods including Lee's friends, family and co-workers covering the area where his vehicle was found, and a considerable distance away from that point," Pachan said Saturday morning before the body was found. "We also have a boat with a K-9 in the Vosburgh Swamp and a kayak team on the Hudson River checking the western shoreline."

Police — including both state police and forest rangers — focused the search on the Four Mile Point Road area because Lee’s vehicle was found at the parking lot of the Vosburgh Swamp Wildlife Management Area, which is managed by the Department of Environmental Conservation.

Pachan said the New York State Police Department's Greenville office is handling the investigation.
