Northern Columbia 10, North Country 2

HUDSON FALLS — The Northern Columbia Chaos beat out the North Country Wildcats 10-2 in Hudson Mohawk Travel League 10U softball play on Wednesday night.

The Chaos jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back.

Ellie McCarthy led the way on the mound, striking out nine batters and walking one, allowing three hits and two runs — one earned — in a complete game performance.

At the plate, Madison Paul had a two-run single and scored a run while McCarthy scored twice, Emi Sandagato scored twice after being hit by two pitches and Emma Holmberg scored a run and had an RBI.

Northern Columbia improves to 5-2 and plays again next Thursday against Amsterdam on the road.

12U SOFTBALL

Northern Columbia 17, East Greenbush 13

Northern Columbia 12, Amsterdam 4

VALATIE — The Northern Columbia Chaos Cryptonite picked up two wins this week, beating out East Greenbush 17-13 and Amsterdam 12-4.

In the first game against East Greenbush, Northern Columbia mounted a 16-hit attack. Olive Mountain went 4 for 4 with two triples, two runs scored and four RBI, Courtney Danforth had three hits, three RBI and three runs and Aubrey Proper, Makayla Walsh, Riley Sitcer and Liz Holliday all had two hits, two runs and two RBI. Skylar Waterhouse and Paige Eitleman each added a hit and a run.

Emily Mesick and Courtney Danforth went the distance on the mound fanning six and walking five.

Against Amsterdam, Walsh led the pack with two triples, three runs and four RBI, Hannah Pinto and Waterhouse each had two hits and three RBI, Holliday a double and a run, Mesick a hit and a run, Sitcer, Danforth and Paige Eitleman two runs apiece and Aubrey Proper two RBI.

Mesick pitched a two-hitter with seven Ks and five walks.

DISTRICT 15 SOFTBALL

Northern Columbia 22, Greenville 6

VALATIE — Northern Columbia blasted Greenville 22-6 in a District 15 Little League 9-10-year-old All-Stars softball game on Wednesday.

NCLL scored six runs in the second inning and added eight more in the fourth to ice the game.

Riley Strobel led the way offensively, going 4 for 4 with four runs scored. Samantha Lantzy went 2 for 2 with four runs, Rose Holliday went 2 for 3 with three runs, Deanna Minshell went 2 for 4 with two runs and Felicity Murray added two runs.

On the bump, Strobel tossed four innings and struck ou nine, walked three and surrendered five hits and six runs — five earned.

Northern Columbia plays again today against Saugerties at 5:45 p.m. at Saugerties.
