GERMANTOWN — A school bus carrying 26 children and one driver rolled over on Church Avenue on Tuesday morning.
The accident was called in to Columbia County 911 at 7:47 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
All children had exited the bus before first responders arrived on the scene, according to scanner reports.
Four children and the driver suffered minor injuries, according to state police.
“Minor injuries have been reported by the driver and four students,” according to a statement from state police. “All injured parties will be transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital.”
The bus, from the district’s bus company, Pat Zanchelli Inc., out of Germantown, was driven by a 39-year-old female bus driver. Her identity has not been released by police.
A second school bus was brought in to transport the students to the Germantown schools, according to state police.
No other vehicles were involved. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
Church Avenue was closed between Round Top and Viewmont roads.
“Parents are urged not to respond to Church Avenue, but instead contact the Germantown Central School District for reunification information,” according to police.
Northern Dutchess Paramedics, state police, and the Columbia County EMS coordinator responded to the scene, as well as firefighters from Germantown and Clermont.
