PRATTSVILLE — Now in full holiday spirits. Christmas shopping, decorating and making plans for the New Year celebration. No time to slow down.

The WAJPL Golden Age group held their Christmas Luncheon on Thursday in the midst of yet another winter snow storm. Believe there were close to 100 people there to enjoy the food and companionship. The snow could not deter them. Guess we are used to it by now.

You have to plan your local trips between the snow squalls. So far the roads have been kept clear and well plowed. Thank you NYDOT and local Town and County Highway Departments. You are appreciated.

Mary Cline took husband Ron to the Windham Diner on his birthday for a celebratory dinner. Ron’s birthday was Dec. 3. Mary said Ron enjoys eating there and she doesn’t have to cook so it is a win-win situation.

The Briggs boys have been hunters their whole lives but now Larry Briggs says he feeds the squirrels and chipmunks rather than shooting them. He even bought a special gun for the little varmints but instead of using it, Larry buys them food for the winter. He says he enjoys watching them play and eat.

Pat Minew, Mary Cline, Nancy Orr, Connie Lane, Cathy Martino, Kip Rikard, Yvonne Shafer, Bob and Gurley did the “big” day of shopping for the veterans’ Christmas at the Stratton VAMC. Seems like the most popular items were out of stock and it looked like there were never many of the shelves? They did most of the shopping in the morning, then had lunch at the Chinese Buffet and tied up loose ends before heading home in the late afternoon. Cathy and Ginny shopped in Oneonta on Saturday to try to fill in the needed items. No luck and items are still needed. While there they saw Bud Osborn and Glenda. Bud says he has to take Glenda to the Chinese restaurant for Won Ton Soup. How can you stop with the soup? Dana Hommel, Marianne and Johannes Krauss also made appearances.

Steve Oliver and Don Lane are both taking advantage of a gymnasium. Good for them. Many travel to Arkville to use the facilities there.

Ann Oliver and grandson Colin’s family (grandchildren of course) of Grand Gorge made a trip to Shokan to join in a day of family cookie making and other holiday celebrations. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Marianne and Johannes Krauss traveled downstate over the weekend to help Johannes’ brother Jurgen and wife Eleanor celebrate their 50th anniversary. The Krausses shared a photo taken from their deck after the snowstorm of Dec. 2. Beautiful picture of our gorgeous Catskill Mountains. Absolutely amazing.

Get well wishes to Debbie Wandursky.
