Track champions to be crowned Saturday at Fonda

FONDA — On Saturday evening, the 2017 track champions in all divisions will be crowned as Fonda Speedway celebrates the final night of points with a special racing program called the “Night of Features”.

On the racing program will be twin 20-lap events for the modified division while single feature events will determine the champions in all of the other divisions.

Because the feature from last Saturday was delayed until this week, the sportsman division will also be running twin feature events to determine their 2017 track champion.

Going into Saturday evenings racing program, which will begin at 7 p.m., Tim Fuller leads the modified point standings with 748 points. After winning his first career feature event at the “Track of Champions” back on June 17, this would also be Fuller’s first track championship at Fonda if he holds on to the point lead.

Behind Fuller in the top five in points are Ronnie Johnson with 702 points (no feature wins in 2017, previous track champion at Fonda in 2011 and last year in 2016); Stewart Friesen with 700 points (five feature wins in 2017, previous track champion at Fonda for four consecutive years in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015); Bobby Varin with 694 points (two feature wins in 2017, previous track champion at Fonda in 2000, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010); and Josh Hohenforst with 674 points (two time winner in 2017 with no previous track championships at Fonda).
