CATSKILL — Catskill earned a 42-36 victory over Greenville in Thursday’s Patroon Conference wrestling opener for both schools.

Results:

Coxsackie-Athens 78, Taconic Hills 12

COXSACKIE — Coxsackie-Athens posted eight pins en route to a 78-12 triumph over Taconic Hills in Thursday’s Patroon Conference wrestling match.

Logan Campbell, Josiah Decker, Noah Bartels, Anthony Iamunno, Colin Riley, Andrew Riley, Colby Lord and Seth Dillworth all pinned their opponents for C-A.

Patrick Mier and Logan Phillips recorded Taconic Hills’ lone victories.

Maple Hill 78, Cairo-Durham 12

CASTLETON — Maple Hill got its season off to a strong start with a 78-12 conquest of Cairo-Durham in Thursday’s Patroon Conference wrestling match.

Caleb Svingala, last year’s state runner-up in the 106-pound division of Division II, needed just 17 seconds to pin Cairo-Durham’s Angel Della in the 126-pound weight class, to highlight the Wildcats’ win.

Maple Hill recorded five additional pins during the match to sew up the victory.

VOLLEYBALLPATROON

Ichabod Crane 3, Chatham 0

VALATIE — Harrison Pucket had 15 assists, 3 kills and 4 aces to help Ichabod Crane defeat Chatham, 3-0, in Thursday’s Patroon Conference volleyball match.

The Riders won by scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-19.

For Ichabod Crane, Dean Warner had 6 kills, 4 aces and 1 dig; Jake Siter 1 kill and 3 aces; Jim Konderwich 6 kills and 1 block; Paul Zietsman 2 assists and 1 kill; Ryan Tricozzi 2 kills; Bobby Boll 2 aces, 1 kill and 1 dig; Jared Cook 2 digs and 1 ace; Logan Groat 2 kills; Cam Ames 4 aces, 1 dig and 1 kill.

Chatham, whose roster is made up of just two seniors and the rest underclassmen, was led by sophmores Vinnie Marasco, Ethan Boyle and Steven Pechacek.

Hudson 3, Taconic Hills 1

CRARYVILLE — Hudson defeated Taconic Hills, 3-1, in Thursday’s Patroon Conference volleyball match.

Hudson took the first two games, 25-21 and 25-16, TH won the third, 25-26, but the Bluehawks wrapped up the match with a 25-12 victory in the fourth game.

For the Titans, Adonias Mercado had 3 kills, 3 digs and 1 ace; Isaac Langer 3 blocks, 2 kills and 2 aces and Ryan Wilson 5 aces, 1 kill, 1 dig and 1 block.

Coxsackie-Athens 3, Greenville 1

GREENVILLE — Coxsackie-Athens rolled to a 3-1 victory over Greenville in Thursday’s Patroon Conference volleyball match.

C-A won the first two games, 25-19 and 25-17, before Greenville took the third, 25-17. The Indians won the fourth game, 25-21, to seal the victory.

“It was an exciting match to watch,” Greenville coach Glenn Evans said. “Players on both sides passed, hit and served very well.”

Ryan Blair led Greenville with 5 kills, 1 block, 8 assists and 6 digs.

GIRLS BASKETBALLNON-LEAGUE

Hawthorne Valley 28, Taconic Hills 15

CRARYVILLE — Merril Lewis scored 15 points to spark Hawthorne Valley to a 28-15 girls non-league basketball victory over Taconic Hills on Thursday.

The Wildcats led 6-3 after one quarter, 15-7 at halftime and 23-11 through three quarters.

Jennifer Meritzer had seven points for Hawthorne Valley.

Marleah Perry topped Taconic hills with five points, including a three-pointer. Emily Mottoshiski and Macayla Sparacino each had four and Julianna Carrasquillo two.

BOWLINGPATROON

Chatham 5, Taconic Hills 0

CHATHAM — Andrew Duso spun a 237-540 to lead Chatham to a 5-0 victory over Taconic Hills in Patroon Conference bowling action on Thursday.

Michael Morse had a 208-463 for the Panthers. LJ Morse contributed a 173-474.

Tony Morales’ 139-361 paced the Titans. Danielle Podmijersky chipped in with a 118-336.

Chatham hit games of 825, 1,010 and 800 for a 2,635 total. Taconic Hills’ total pinfall of 2,063 cames from games of 703, 706 and 654.

Maple Hill 5, Rensselaer 0

EAST GREENBUSH — Kevin Ackerman fired a 663 triple to highlight Maple Hill’s 5-0 victory over Rensselaer in thursday’s Patroon Conference bowling match.

Ackerman ran off games of 213, 224 and 226 for the Wildcats. Michael Laney added a 208-50 and Austin Smith rolled a 180-522.

Tim Foust led the Rams with a 227-541.

Maple Hill had a total pinfall of 2,975 with games of 979, 936 and 1,060. Rensselaer had games of 676, 849 and 767 for 2,292.
